Here is a brief history of Croydon Mosque & Islamic Centre:
Founded in the early 1970s in West Croydon, Croydon Mosque & Islamic Centre (CMIC) originated in a modest ground-floor hall. Over two decades, it evolved into a Victorian House with seven halls, accommodating 3,500 people, expanding to 4,000. CMIC, actively engaged in the local Muslim community of 20,000, has become a hub for education, social services, and community outreach, fostering unity and growth over its transformative journey.

History and Growth:
Founded in the early 1970s in West Croydon. Started in a small ground-floor hall and evolved into a large Victorian House over 20 years. Currently has seven halls with a capacity for 3,500 people, with plans to expand to 4,000.
Community Engagement:
Weekly attendance of over 9,000 people, increasing to 30,000 during Ramadan.
Serves a diverse Muslim community of 20,000 in and around the London Borough of Croydon. Actively participates in local events and interfaith groups.
Management Structure:
Strategic and operational management through the Executive and Management Committees. Robust decision-making processes and adherence to statutory and regulatory compliance.
Educational Services:
Madrassah attended by over 500 children. Adult education classes, including English, and extra tuition for mainstream subjects.
Social & Welfare Initiatives:
Youth programs, elderly welfare, marriage services, and funeral facilities. Regular lectures on Islamic and contemporary lifestyle issues.
Community Outreach:
Actively engages in school visits and hosts annual Islamic exhibitions. Maintains a presence in local advisory services and on the SACRE committee.
Media and Communication:
Hosts Radio Ramadan Croydon, addressing live questions and discussing lifestyle issues.
Monthly legal, medical, and police surgeries.
Future Plans:
Planned provision of creche facilities. Construction plans to increase the Centre's capacity. Continued focus on community services and non-profit Hajj and Umrah tours.
